Merry Melody Music Academy was founded in 2001 by Vivian Tsang (Piano) and Chris Poon (Guitar/Bass), a husband and wife team who are accomplished musicians and music educators. Still serving as Directors today, they graduated from prestigious music institutions (Vivian from New England Conservatory of Music and Chris from Berklee College of Music) while enjoying very successful teaching careers for the past 15+ years. Although they play different instruments, they both share the same visions as music teachers - to make learning music a fun and engaging experience for students and to equip them with the ability to enjoy the gift of music for the rest of their lives. They also believe that music education is at its best when it is catered to each student’s individual interest and ability while aiming to help them achieve self-fulfillment. With these goals in mind, together they developed methodology and programs that have made learning music an incredible and rewarding experience for students. For the past 19+ years, Merry Melody Music Academy has helped to enrich the lives of thousands of students, from ones who just want to play for their own enjoyment, to ones who want to join a band, and to ones who participate in national competitions.
